What I have gained back in health and fitness, is beyond my ability to measure.

Excuses! ` No More Excuses, I Am Ready To Finish This Journey To Goal Weight. 05/29/2010

Picture
Last night I watched the task two Video in the Michelle Bridges second session of the 12week body transformation course I am doing, titled “Get Real - No More Excuses”

It was about my needing to take full responsibility for myself, my body and how I think.

Time to reflect on how I see myself and to stop any self-sabotaging habits I still possess.

I have to want my goals myself; no one can do this for me. I think I lose track of my goal or I would not reach for that extra snack. I need to focus more intently on why I want the goals I seek.

I have to let go of my excuses. I have to let go of excuses I have used for so long that I probably believe them. I have to let go of excuses I have probably convinced others to believe in too. I need to clear these excuses and make way for a breakthrough.

Internal Excuses: I do give myself self talk, eg. ' I’m too old for this'. Part of me wants to lose weight fast and when I don’t do this week after week I cease to focus on the steady gradual weight loss I am achieving and my inner Dr Jekyll, says ‘I can lose weight, so it’s not worth trying’.  I did this years ago when I hit a plateau, this time I got a lot further before I hit a plateau weight, this time I will remain consistent, as the plateau is as a result of the way I think, the way I still slightly overeat on some days, and  I am capable of removing this plateau simply by stopping occasional overeating and occasionally neglecting being an active person. I need to focus on the yin yang balance of my mind and body. I have always paid too much attention to things that I create with my mind and hand action and not enough focus on my body as a whole. I need to overcome the excuses I use to stop myself from nurturing my body.

External Excuses within my control: These are excuses prompted by external factors that I have some control over. For example, 'I am too busy, it’s raining so I can’t run, or it is too hot and  I can’t afford it'.

External excuses outside of your control: These are external factors that you have absolutely no control over, real emergencies. For example as a carer, I need to be with Reg. As a traveler, sometimes my day involves a lot of driving time and as a writer, artist, my work is labour intensive and there are deadlines I must meet. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to get out of these and yes your training or diet may be affected by them but I can do some exercise on days when I can’t do  lot and I can eat portion controlled and healthy every day.

My Tasks

  1. List my excuses
  2. Write down solutions for each excuse.

    I can do that.

Crunch Time Lose Weight Fast and Keep it Off

By Michelle Bridges

Format: Paperback, 212 pages Published In: Australia, 02 February 2009

I  have and love this book.
I own and use all the Michelle Bridges books and the DVD's  I highly recommend them and the Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation program that I have done.

These books are compatible with my attitudes to healthy lifestyle and are suitable for use by those people who use the artslim forum. though I recommend do yourself a favour though and do the Michelle Bridges, 12 week body transformation, at least once even if you have to adapt the program to your own needs, you will be sure to learn something and benefit as I have done from the professionally run program and forum.

If you are not working with a certified practicing dietician and qualified personal fitness trainer then please do yourself a favour and skip the diet books and groups and come straight to the healthy lifestyle books and forums so you break free from the self abuse of dieting and the self neglect of over eating and under exercising and discover the joy of loving yourself fit and slim today and always.

Michelle Bridges, Australian Calorie Counter 05/20/2010

I own  a copy of this small calorie counter book and highly recommend it .
The food language is Australian, as in, the names we call foods, the US based calorie counters are a time waster in my opinion if you are an Australian. I do not need to know how many calories in a US chain store hamburger; I want to get straight to the calories in the whole foods I cook with. It fits easily in my handbag.

I know the calorie count of most food, it's when I am out and eating food I do not usually eat at home that I most need this book.  So easy to think your eating 350 calories  because the meal looks standard size but with a quick check of this book you may discover that dish contains 900 calories. OMG, saved by a little knowledge, I want my goals too much to risk undoing them by eating out without checking out the calorie count of a meal, to help work out the serving size I can eat and not go way over calorie budget.

All very well to say, 'stop when satisfied', try doing that when your enjoying a tasty delight with a glass of will power dissolving wine in hand.  I prefer knowledge on my side to  help strengthen my will power, thanks :-).  A great little book.

Picture
Today is a mix of emotions and activities day.  I have benefited greatly from meeting new positive influence friends, through the 12wbt program.

Will I take on round two?

This is the final week of the Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation and I have broken my goals down into how I will complete this 12 weeks in style.

Train for one leg of a triathlon every day. Today I plan to swim 800 meters.

Final fitness test assessment for the 12 weeks, this Thursday, there should be some huge improvements on my original performances.

Run a triathlon this coming Saturday. I have planned the three legs as

Swim 800 meters

Run 5 kilometres

Run in soft sink into sand 1 kilometre.

After and new before photos taken before Sunday

Final weigh and measure on Sunday

Print out my completion certificate.

Decision time.

Do I repeat a second Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation or go it on my own or formulate my own  or formulate my own support group, if so where, here, or there?

Will I set my own goals, action plan and to do list here?

While I housekeep and set up camp, have my swim and beach walk run today I’ll be deep in thought,  goal setting and action planning.

Your comments are welcome. J

I may be a bit quieter here in my blogs for a few days as we are about to drive 1,400 kilometers in however long it takes with time out for beach walks and runs and enjoying life.  Our next settled in destination is far north Queensland Australia, we may arrive in three days or three weeks, whatever takes our fancy :-).

I'll have heaps to write and show once I arrive and I'm right on target for a great finish for the Michelle Bridges, 12 week body transformation. lol, I can see and feel the improvement in my fitness and looks.

Week 11 of 12WBT, On the Home Stretch. 05/10/2010

How fast the last ten weeks have flown.
I am currently in Maleny, Qld, in the Blackall Mountain range.
My fitness training is always adapted to where I am, what natural features the area offers me to exercise and my food choice is influenced by my knowledge of nutrition and what is available and affordable in the area I am currently in.

I have had several ‘brilliant’ weeks, the two where I was climbing mountains in the Grampians and the ones where I was running on beaches and swimming in the pools, brought me exceptional results.  The two weeks while visiting family and when I was home, were less spectacular and those days when I drove long distances have been so-so.
W
hile I aim for consistency in my healthy, portion controlled way of eating and regular exercise, I have not maintained consistency. I have lost some weight, (it would have been more if I had been more consistent) and I have achieved an amazing improvement in my fitness.

Here are my weight loss products for today J

250 mls skim milk in beverages during the day

Michelle Bridges the female trainer Looked 'Hot', a stunning beauty in a cocktail dress rather than gym clothes at the final ceremony and trainer Shannon and the Commando looked so smart in suits.

Rainforest Hikes, in south east Gippsland. 04/10/2010

Picture
Today’s exercise consisted of hiking through two beautiful rain forest walks in the forests of south east Gippsland, carrying Indigo, our poodle for most of the way.
Picture
The paved Rainforest Walk at the junction of the Bemm and McKenzie rivers took us through a rainforest river valley, with markers along the way telling the story of the secrets of survival and the creatures the forest it harbours.

Reg and I heard the sounds of a lyrebird, mimicking other birds and twigs breaking and we saw many native birds in the scrub.

Picture

The swing bridges over the McKenzie River and through the gnarled trees added a different dimension to the rainforest experience. The steps gave me some additional exercise variety.

Picture
Dogs are permitted in the reserve but must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Our indigo found the trail difficult as it was covered with branches and leaf litter, so I carried her most of the way, happy to add a little extra exercise effort to these beautiful walks..

Precautions

Remember to check weather conditions before you go as the bridges and boardwalk in the scenic reserve are subject to flooding.  Today was a beautiful day, but you could see that one of the trails was often under water.

Picture
We are in the region half way between Melbourne and Sydney now, near the Australian Capital Territory and many of the cars in the vicinity are ACT cars and those of international tourists. We have been doing a lot of business card swapping, as any people ask me about my art or blog writing and I am interested in the stories other travellers have, especially those who are working their way around the country.

I have a card here for philly job search lol, J, I can’t imagine why I collected that one, I probably saw the philly and thought it was about Philadelphia cream cheese which I love, lol, J   lol, Cheese has once again been my calorie count downfall today. I ate healthy enough and I exercised but no negative energy deficit today if I add the cheese I ate into my food diary.
I have to get myself back into momentum of being totally focused on my goals again. I am having so much fun this does not feel like exercise.  I know it is, over 14,000 steps recorded on my pedometer, again today.

Weigh and Measure, Week 4, 12WBT. Going well :-). 03/24/2010

"People rarely succeed unless they  have fun in what they are doing."
-
Dale Carnegie

Picture
I have been having fun here in the Grampians and following the 12WBT, program.

Week 4, weigh in results are in for my 12wbt, program and I have lost 4.52% of my body weight, since the program started.

Picture
Yesterday my size 14 black jeans, which had been very tight when I left home on out trip five weeks ago, were slipping down so I checked and sure enough, the waist needs to be taken in three inches.

I am very impressed.  I wore my jeans with a belt to hold them up today.

Picture
I have worked very hard for this size and weight loss, mostly in week one at Tarra Valley, with a rainforest as my work out play ground and then here in the Grampians, during weeks three and four of the 12WBT.

Week two, spent visiting family was my worst week of the program for effort and I’ve made a huge effort while here in the Grampians, even to the point of putting Indigo into a kennel for the first time in her life so I could go on bigger hikes.

Picture
Indigo, our poodle has proved to be all the home security systems, our caravan needs at night. She let us know there were strangers around outside out caravan the other night.

She must think we are mean, rewarding her guard dog efforts by putting her into a day care kennels so Reg and I can have fantastic time, exploring the National Park together and building our fitness level.

Picture
After two back to back , huge mountain climbing efforts, I have promised Reg a day off tomorrow and I will try to do my week four, fitness test, part of which is too time how long it takes me to run 1 kilometre. That is run, walk or crawl it, but to ‘just do it’.

Running is not my best skill, shortness of breath slows me down.

I give it 'my best shot'.
I will let you know, how I go.

    _Happy New year :-)
I am going to combine several seemingly contradicting eating and exercise programs and put together my own Artslim Naturally slimming and Gray-Nomad fitness program.  I plan to bring these out as a low cost EBook and small paperback. They will suit anyone interested in managing weight with son=me difficult health conditions such as metabolic syndrome and past injuries.

I'll be showing you some of the books I am reading that have some excellent qualities, although they will not be exactly what I am putting together to suit me and my style of doing things.
I will be focusing on eating and exercising for wellness, weight loss if obese, weight management and balanced fulfilling lifestyle..
