parkrun is a free weekly timed 5km run in a park. parkrun  is open to anyone, of any age.
All you have to do is register beforehand at www.parkrun.com.au.

Participants receive their own unique barcode, which can be printed out and used at any parkrun event. The barcode records each runner’s time and finishing position. Weekly results are posted on the parkrun website.

parkrun is for people of all abilities. You can run, jog, or walk the course. It’s just you against the clock.

From November 19 2011 parkrun will be held every Saturday morning at Albert Park.

I made a commitment that I would begin a walking program today.  All day I was rushing to complete work chores and longing to have them finished so I could walk for exercise and work on my novel.  By the time I had finished work I was simply exhausted yet the determination was there to fulfill my promises to myself to write and exercise.

My work chores had been to complete eight small paid writing assignments today and pack a composite order of several eBay sales for several customers from my Australian Art Gifts site.

I tried to write and was too tired to do the quality writing I need to do for a novel and I was too exhausted to walk in the hoot late afternoon air.   Then I had a brainwave....I went to the pool.  It was exercise and refreshing and I swam many laps, stretched in the hydrotherapy pool afterwards then came home and ate dinner.  Yes I was still too tired to work in my noel but I have exercised.  I am pleased I achieved that, plus a very busy day's work. Maybe that was enough for today.  My mind wants to do more than my body can and time allows :-). Is there a book to cover that? lol.

I had a reasonably active day today.  I walked around the shops in Shepparton. not with the intention f spending money but to get some exercise.  I followed up this evening with some active housework. Time I became more active.

One of my trips was to a bookstore and I bought a book on running. When I came home I dug up an olf favorite Walk off Weight.  I think I need to begin here before I follow the running program and I will take it slowly making allowance for my less fit 65 years.

I have NO idea if this is a good book.  The fact that it says, lose weight on any diet, will stop me from buying it unless I viewed the contents list first and I am not interested in the unhealthy practice of losing weight on 'any' diet, I would only entertain losing weight on a healthy eating plan.  Anyhow, getting over, picking on the language used there, I do think that the overcoming emotional eating aspect of this book would be worth a read and of benefit - on a healthy eating plan.   Now the losing it in France book below, I do love. :-). It is also beautiful to touch and look at and would make a lovely gift.

I am absolutely loving the book, Unlimited by Jillian Michaels.  I have read most of the positive mental attitude books ever written and believe we needed a new one. Too many were written heavily steeped in so much sexist talk -(as a man thinketh) or presuming you were into new age beliefs, it was time for a more down to earth and non sexist approach.  Unlimited is this approach which should be acceptable to most people.  Here's to our half full glass. xx

That was a scary assent. No idea how I made it, it was a rock scramble to the top. I quit once then had a second go at it and made it. I think it is Barooka Lookout. A Fantastic walk. I went there with Reg when we were younger but didn't remember the top being as scary as it was this time,  I was 64 years old when this picture was taken. I thought there was a rail in place last time, or maybe they have opened up a higher section of the walk scramble now. View was incredible.

I work hard to find a balance in my time intensive sedentary work as an author artist to keep fit and find time for rest.
