Excuses! ` No More Excuses, I Am Ready To Finish This Journey To Goal Weight. 05/29/2010

Last night I watched the task two Video in the Michelle Bridges second session of the 12week body transformation course I am doing, titled “Get Real - No More Excuses”

It was about my needing to take full responsibility for myself, my body and how I think.

Time to reflect on how I see myself and to stop any self-sabotaging habits I still possess.

I have to want my goals myself; no one can do this for me. I think I lose track of my goal or I would not reach for that extra snack. I need to focus more intently on why I want the goals I seek.

I have to let go of my excuses. I have to let go of excuses I have used for so long that I probably believe them. I have to let go of excuses I have probably convinced others to believe in too. I need to clear these excuses and make way for a breakthrough.

Internal Excuses: I do give myself self talk, eg. ' I’m too old for this'. Part of me wants to lose weight fast and when I don’t do this week after week I cease to focus on the steady gradual weight loss I am achieving and my inner Dr Jekyll, says ‘I can lose weight, so it’s not worth trying’.  I did this years ago when I hit a plateau, this time I got a lot further before I hit a plateau weight, this time I will remain consistent, as the plateau is as a result of the way I think, the way I still slightly overeat on some days, and  I am capable of removing this plateau simply by stopping occasional overeating and occasionally neglecting being an active person. I need to focus on the yin yang balance of my mind and body. I have always paid too much attention to things that I create with my mind and hand action and not enough focus on my body as a whole. I need to overcome the excuses I use to stop myself from nurturing my body.

External Excuses within my control: These are excuses prompted by external factors that I have some control over. For example, 'I am too busy, it’s raining so I can’t run, or it is too hot and  I can’t afford it'.

External excuses outside of your control: These are external factors that you have absolutely no control over, real emergencies. For example as a carer, I need to be with Reg. As a traveler, sometimes my day involves a lot of driving time and as a writer, artist, my work is labour intensive and there are deadlines I must meet. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to get out of these and yes your training or diet may be affected by them but I can do some exercise on days when I can’t do  lot and I can eat portion controlled and healthy every day.

My Tasks

  1. List my excuses
  2. Write down solutions for each excuse.

    I can do that.

I do not recommend any diet.
I also totally condemn detox diets as DANGEROUS.
